The Ministries

Main Worship Service
11:00 am every Sunday

Our heart desires to be transformed by the love of Christ and to GLORIFY HIM in all we do. You'll be greeted with warm smiles, hear uplifting and worshipful music to encourage you and powerful preaching from God’s word. God didn’t just save you from something, He saved you for something! Discovering your kingdom purpose is a journey and we’re committed to help you every step of the way.

Sunday School (Kid's Ministry)
10:00 am every Sunday.

LightHouse Baptist Temple is a place where kids feel God’s amazing love while having crazy fun. They learn about Jesus in age-appropriate spaces and a safe, secure environment. We desire to come alongside you and provide resources for your family to be healthy and equipped, and to empower every kid to be a life-long disciple of Christ. Our goal is to provide them with a teaching opportunity the moment they walk in the door.

Choir Ministry

As a choir, our goal is to glorify God at our highest possible level of excellence. Apart from leading the Worship service on Sunday, our choir often prepares other Musical events, typically at Christmas and Easter.

Youth Ministry

We foster a culture of revival and honor. We have a mentorship program where we match our young men with role models and likewise for the young ladies. Here at LBT we truly believe that it takes a village to raise a child.

Bus Ministry

The bus ministry is the single greatest evangelistic tool in the history of the world. No other ministry of the local church has been responsible for more people coming to church and coming to Christ than the bus ministry. We are looking for volunteers and workers for our bus Ministry. We pick people from around the area every sunday who need a ride to our church.

Support widows and Orphans

Orphans are unlikely to receive any education.Donations pay their fees in primary and secondary schools helping their lives transform. A group of widows may be given a couple of cows, goats or chickens. They build up their own herd or flock that helps them feed their family and make a little money by, for example, selling eggs. They get mattresses, gifts and in the future housing.

Support National Pastors

Lighthouse provides supports national pastors in an effort to help establish and grow churches in Kenya which allows them to dedicate most of their time to the ministry without worrying about how they can provide for their family. By partnering with foreign missionaries, and supporting national pastors, we are helping to reach remote villages with the Gospel of Christ.

Campus Ministry

We have an outreach ministry to the UVA and have made great contacts and relationships in the past. We connect Students and professors who are doing research with the members of our church community. We distribute Bibles and Gospel tracts throughout the campus.

This safari offers an experience of its kind. Visit a children’s orphanage, spend the day with the kids, cook, eat and play with them. Attend a local church service on Sunday. Enjoy a wildlife safari visiting two of the best parks in Kenya. Masai Mara which is well known for abundant wildlife throughout the year. Two trips are planned every year the first one being in Spring (May) and the second in Early Fall (Oct - Nov).

ARISE Ministry (Alliance for Refugee and Immigrant Support and Education)

ARISE! is a ministry of Africa Lighthouse Baptist Temple (ALBT), to serve the spiritual, emotional and practical needs of refugees and immigrants in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. The church is led by Lead Pastor Peter Chege of Kenya, and Assistant Pastor Yves Ruterera of Rwanda. There are about 2,000 refugees living here. The International Rescue Committee (IRC) relocates about 200 people to Charlottesville annually….but in 2016, that number will likely increase by at least 25% to 250. The families are provided rent for 3 months, and support services for 1 year.

Refugees continue to need support and education for up to 5 years or longer in order to rise up out of poverty and assimilate into the U.S. culture. Because most do not speak English, do not drive or own a car, and many lack education and/or work experience, most initially are employed in housekeeping, laundry, fast food restaurants, landscaping...or similar low-paying jobs. The spiritual and emotional needs are enormous. Refugees have fled from violence and persecution, and most have lived in refugee camps for years before coming here. Fay Painter, a former non-profit executive and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, is assisting ALBT in program development, organization, and fund development.
